Shot Fatal to TU Senior
The death of Glover A. (Sandy) Leitch Jr., 22-year-old University of Tulsa senior whose body was discovered late Saturday in his apartment, has been ruled a suicide by Louis Powell, county investigator. Police said Leitch had een shot in the forehead with a small derringer-like .22 pistol which was found in his hand.
The fody was found by Leitch's wife, Judith Ann, and his father-in-law, W. W. Broome, on the bed in the couple's upstairs apartment at 718 S. Columbia Ave.
Broome told police the youth had recently been upset about his Selective Service reclassification to 1-A. He was nearing completion of work toward a degree in the English department at TU and planned a career as a writer, Broome said. He was currently a part-time employee at Crane Carrier Corp. and held a "B" average in school.
Leitch was the son of the Rev. and Mrs. G. A. Leitch, Lincoln, Nebraska. Rev. Leitch formerly was assistant pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa. A native of Pittman, New York, he had attended Central High School here and Trinity College at San Antonio before entering TU. He is survived by a brother and three sisters.
Services will be held at 10 am Tuesday at John Knox Presbyterian Church of which he was a member. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Moore Funeral Home.
