Prayers for the Schabauer family. Sorry to hear the the news of another 1st streeter passing. As I grew up with Richard, Andy and Skeets and lived on 1st & E. I was just talking to my sister in law in Omaha about Richs passing. Going through Park school, Richard' s neighbors were the Hergenraders. Gloria Hergenrader has been married to my brother Jim for almost 40 years. Since the passing of both our parents, Jim and Gloria don't visit Lincoln that often. Gloria and I shared a lot of Park school and neighborhood stories that included Richard. One of my favorites was camping overnight in the Boy Scout cabin and the antics, of putting food in sleeping bags, mainly mine, as I remember Rich putting a jar of mustard in my bag. Skeets, Roger Hadley, Rich, Reggie Robinson, Kennedy and that's all I remember. Lots of laughing, and baseball at Cooper Park. Rest In Peace brothers, Love you all. John Dockery .
,
Dave, was trying to reach out to you. I'm sorry we didn't connect last month. Rest In Peace, my friend. I'm glad we were able to have dinner with wives in Meridian, Idaho, a few years ago. We shared a varied life together on 1st street. Sleep overs, your mom's (Molly) kraut runzas, camp outs, hunting, basketball in your backyard . Sitting in your kitchen as your Dad returned from snow plowing the roads, hot runzas again. All those Park school, Everett, and LHS memories. I'm keeping many moments between you and me, private and cherished.
You will be very missed.
Your friend of 72 years.

Mary, forgive me for not knowing your married name, as it didn’t include Steinmiller.
I do remember being at you house several times. Don’t remember the instances.
Just remember you lived in the biggest house I had ever been in. I thought The Harley’s were rich because you had to go up the stairs to his house. I miss Rodger and think about him often. We talked a lot on the phone before he passed. What a great bunch of kids growing up around Park school. Take care, John Dockery.
Rest in Pease Andy.....We grew up together from 1st grade on, living 3 houses apart, albeit on the other side of the tracks. Your mother was very kind to me and special. Several times she bandaged me up, and put my thumb back together after I sliced it in two. We were chopping willow branches to make bows to shoot. Soon after your Dad rescued me from your mile long chase, thru the apts and around the blocks, while you were very upset that I tossed the discus past your best marker, and you got upset enough to grab a 2x4 and really wanted to beat me with that. Then it was on to the pole vault thing my Dad built, as we struggled with a big bamboo pole that soon splintered and broke, I think we cleared 5 ft. I spent an enjoyable time with your sister at one of the reunions, as we reminised about our growing up in our early years. You were back living at your moms at the time. Your intelect and educational accomplishments was very admired by me. You won that race hands down. I'm happy things went peacefully for you. You deserve all the peace God has to offer. Eternal.
Respectfully.
